You check Google Analytics. The visitors are there. People are landing on your website every day.
But the WhatsApp stays quiet. The contact form is empty. Nobody is calling.
This is one of the most frustrating situations a business owner can face — and it’s far more common than you think. The good news is that it’s almost always fixable. Here are the most common reasons it happens, and exactly what to do about each one.
If your website takes more than 3 seconds to load, more than half of your visitors will leave before they even see your content. On mobile — where most Malaysian users browse — the tolerance is even lower.
A visitor who leaves before the page loads counts as a visit in your analytics. They never actually saw your website. They never had a chance to enquire.
How to check: Go to pagespeed.web.dev, enter your website URL, and check your mobile score. Anything below 70 is hurting you.
How to fix it:
This is the most common problem we see on small business websites. The visitor arrives, reads your content, and then… nothing. There’s no clear next step. No obvious button. No reason to act right now.
Every page on your website should have one clear call-to-action (CTA). Not three. Not hidden at the bottom. One clear, visible action you want the visitor to take.
Examples of strong CTAs:
How to fix it: Add a prominent button above the fold (visible without scrolling) on every key page. Make it a contrasting colour so it stands out. Put your WhatsApp number one click away — not buried in the Contact page.
More than 70% of website visits in Malaysia happen on a mobile phone. If your website is hard to read, hard to navigate, or has buttons that are too small to tap on a phone screen — visitors will leave immediately.
A website that looks great on desktop but breaks on mobile is worse than no website at all. It actively damages trust.
How to check: Open your website on your own phone right now. Can you read everything easily? Are the buttons easy to tap? Does the layout make sense on a small screen?
How to fix it: If your website isn’t properly mobile responsive, this is a fundamental rebuild — not a quick fix. A professionally built WordPress site handles mobile properly from day one.
A visitor arrives at your website and within 5 seconds should be able to answer three questions:
If your homepage leads with your company name and a vague tagline like “Your Trusted Partner in Excellence” — you’ve already lost them. That tells the visitor nothing.
How to fix it: Rewrite your homepage headline to be specific and benefit-focused. Compare these two examples:
| ❌ Vague | ✅ Clear |
|---|---|
| “Your Trusted Partner in Excellence” | “Professional WordPress Websites from RM388 — Built for Malaysian SMEs” |
| “We Provide Quality Solutions” | “Affordable Web Design with No Hidden Fees — Ready in 2 Weeks” |
Specific always beats vague. Prices, timelines, and outcomes build trust immediately.
Buying from a business you’ve never heard of requires trust. If your website doesn’t give visitors reasons to trust you, they’ll find a competitor who does.
Trust signals that work:
How to fix it: Add at least 3 real testimonials and 3 portfolio examples to your homepage. If you don’t have them yet, ask your best existing customers for a quick review — most are happy to help.
Many business owners hide their pricing because they’re worried about scaring visitors away. The opposite is usually true.
When there’s no pricing on your website, visitors assume you’re expensive. Or they can’t be bothered to enquire just to find out if they can afford you. They move on to a competitor whose pricing is visible.
How to fix it: You don’t have to show exact prices if your work is highly custom. But show a starting price (“from RM388”), a price range, or a clear pricing page. Transparency builds trust and pre-qualifies enquiries — so the people who contact you are already comfortable with your rates.
Sometimes the problem isn’t conversion — it’s traffic quality. If your website is getting visits from people who were never going to buy from you, no amount of optimisation will generate enquiries.
Signs of low-quality traffic:
How to fix it: Check Google Search Console to see which keywords are bringing people to your site. If visitors are arriving via keywords unrelated to your actual services, your SEO needs to be refocused on the right terms. Every page should target a specific keyword that matches what your ideal customer would search.
| Problem | Quick Fix | Time Needed |
|---|---|---|
| Slow loading speed | Install LiteSpeed Cache, compress images | 1–2 hours |
| No clear CTA | Add WhatsApp button to every page | 30 minutes |
| Poor mobile experience | Test on phone, flag issues to developer | 30 minutes to identify |
| Unclear homepage message | Rewrite headline to be specific | 1 hour |
| No trust signals | Add 3 testimonials and portfolio examples | 2–3 hours |
| Hidden pricing | Add a pricing page or “from RM X” on homepage | 1 hour |
| Wrong traffic | Review keywords in Google Search Console | 1–2 hours |
Getting traffic but no enquiries means your website is doing half the job. The visitors are there — but something is stopping them from taking the next step.
Work through the checklist above, fix the easiest items first, and track whether your enquiry rate improves over the following weeks.

Check Google Analytics. A bounce rate above 70% for a service business website is a warning sign. Between 50–70% is average. Below 50% is good. High bounce rate combined with low session duration usually means visitors aren’t finding what they expected.
Yes — especially as a floating button on mobile. Malaysian customers strongly prefer WhatsApp over contact forms. Make it as easy as possible to reach you in one tap.
For organic SEO traffic, allow 3–6 months. For direct traffic from your own marketing (social media, name cards, word of mouth), you should see enquiries much sooner — within weeks of launching if you’re actively promoting your website.
